The Philippines made it again as the 10th friendliest country in the world according to the 2022 Readers’ Choice Awards by Conde Nast Traveller (CNT)!

The Philippines as a friendly country is known for the country’s hospitality and warm reception especially to foreign guests and tourists. That is why it is no longer a surprise to know that the country was ranked by almost a quarter of a million CNT readers. As a testament of being a consistent option as a primary tourism destination, the Philippines is better than other countries as it  also secured back-to-back wins as the luxury travel magazine named Boracay as “top island” in Asia and Palawan as the eighth.

According to CNT, “The country has often been praised for its seemingly effortless hospitality to visitors, foreigners, or expatriates,” the magazine said when the winners list was released. Furthermore, “Many people consider the Banaue Rice Terraces here to be the ‘Eighth Wonder of the World,’ though plenty of other beauty spots abound here. The islands are peppered with majestic mountainscapes, decorative churches and sprawling sandy beaches,” it added.

Aside from being one of the friendliest, the Philippines was also hailed as the 30th best country to travel to, scoring 86.66 and besting Costa Rica, Belize, Germany, Malta, Indonesia, Mexico, France, Argentina, and Switzerland, among others. Now, Bria Homes will walk you through to the endless benefits of these recognitions not just in the country’s tourism and industry and economic performance, but more importantly, how our people will truly gain from these acknowledgements.

This is without a doubt that these recognitions will further contribute to the ever booming tourism industry in one of the world’s friendliest countries, the Philippines. As a matter of fact, the Philippine industry plays a pivotal role in the country’s Gross Domestic Product of GDP. In the year 2021 alone, it was estimated that the contribution of the industry in the GDP was at 5.2%. Despite the hurdles caused by the pandemic, non-resident visitors – those foreign visitors and Filipinos permanently residing overseas- in the Philippines share 0.6 percent to the total exports in the same year.

With the easing of the Covid and travel restrictions not just in the Philippines but also in the world, the 10th friendliest country in the world has a very optimistic forecast on the tourism industry. The Philippines is expected to reach the pre-pandemic level of tourism activity in the succeeding year. Though much of this is domestic or local tourism, it is still a manifestation of the country’s long standing identity as being one of the friendliest and hospitable countries in the world.

For foreign or inbound tourism in the Philippines, the highest recorded level was in 2019 at Php 600 billion, with a growth rate of 34.7 percent as compared to the 2018 level. And this actually contributed immensely to the Philippine export by 10.8 percent to the GDP by 3.1 percent. According to the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), most of the inbound tourists in the Philippines came from our neighboring Asian countries, followed by Americans and European tourists. That is why the recent recognition for the Philippines as one the friendliest countries in the world is seen to contribute a lot in the growth of the country’s industry sector especially that the country strives more to recover from the havoc caused by the Pandemic.

That is why according to the Secretary of the Department of Tourism, Christina Frasco, these welcome recognition reaffirm the Department’s efforts to position the Philippines as a major tourism destination in the country.

It is more fun in the Philippines!

The Philippines, the world’s tenth most friendliest country according to CNT Magazine, possesses numerous factors why the Philippines is better than other countries. For instance, the Philippines is home to one of the world’s new seven wonders of nature, the Puerto Princesa Subterranean River in Palawan that features a spectacular limestone karst landscape with an underground river. Another is the well known Boracay island. Hailed as the best island in Asia according to CNT Magazine, saw tourist arrivals increase 160% between 2011 and 2017. Other travel magazines never missed out on identifying islands in the Philippines as one of the best. Take the planetware’s 22 Most Beautiful Islands in the world for example. Palawan Island was recognized as the third most beautiful island in the world.

The Philippines also has a colorful and vibrant history. From its pre-colonial past, to colonial era, and to its independence, it left a great manifestation on the landscape of each of the islands of the archipelago. These are in the forms of ancient temples and churches, colonial houses and heritage sites, colorful festivals, and world-famous cuisines that both the locals and foreign tourists enjoy today and appreciate today.
